It relies on the proper configuration of IP-Subnets in the Active Directory Site Configuration (well, that should be configured properly anyway!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/image.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"image\" style=\"background-image:none;padding-top:0;padding-left:0;display:inline;padding-right:0;border-width:0;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/image_thumb.png\" width=\"506\" height=\"515\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>If you have your subnets configured, then switch to the SCCM Console to Administration, Hierarchy Configuration, Discovery Methods and open the Properties of the \u201cActive Directory Forest Discovery\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here you can enable \u201c<strong>Automatically create IP address range boundaries for IP subnets when they are discovered<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/image1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"image\" style=\"background-image:none;padding-top:0;padding-left:0;display:inline;padding-right:0;border-width:0;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/image_thumb1.png\" width=\"568\" height=\"326\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>To keep the boundaries up to date, you can even run this discovery on a schedule.<\/p>\n<p>When the discovery is run, you will find the IP-Ranges in your boundaries <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/image2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"image\" style=\"border-top:0;border-right:0;background-image:none;border-bottom:0;padding-top:0;padding-left:0;border-left:0;display:inline;padding-right:0;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/image_thumb2.png\" width=\"600\" height=\"36\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can then select all IP-Ranges of one site and put them into a boundary group by right clicking the selected IP-Ranges.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>Hope it helps someone.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>Cheers<\/p>\n<p>Christian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday there was a chat on Twitter about the usage of IP-Range vs. AD-Site based boundaries for System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP1.
