Neither in the GUI nor the service Microsoft Antimalware Service (MsMpEng.exe) itself.<\/p>\n<p>After searching a while I found the solution in <a href=\"http:\/\/social.technet.microsoft.com\/Forums\/forefront\/en-US\/f4347d13-5c9a-4395-b070-9aa53d613f68\/is-there-a-way-to-restart-the-microsoft-antimalware-service\" target=\"_blank\">this thread<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>You need two tools, which will help you (not only in this case!): <a href=\"http:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sysinternals\/bb897553\" target=\"_blank\">psexec<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/de-de\/sysinternals\/bb896653\" target=\"_blank\">Process Explorer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Copy both tools to a folder on the system and start an <strong>elevated<\/strong> command promt.<\/p>\n<p>1. Run the command: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><font style=\"background-color:#ffffff;\">%yourpath%psexec.exe \u2013s \u2013i %yourpath%procexp.exe&#160; *<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/capture1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Capture1\" style=\"border-top:0;border-right:0;background-image:none;border-bottom:0;padding-top:0;padding-left:0;border-left:0;display:inline;padding-right:0;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Capture1\" src=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/capture1_thumb.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"163\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>*where %yourpath% is the path you saved the tools in<\/p>\n<p>2. After accepting two EULAs (only for the first time) Process Explorer will show up. Search for a process called \u201cMsMpEng.exe\u201d and double click it. Switch to the \u201cservices\u201d tab.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/capture2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Capture2\" style=\"border-top:0;border-right:0;background-image:none;border-bottom:0;padding-top:0;padding-left:0;border-left:0;display:inline;padding-right:0;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Capture2\" src=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/capture2_thumb.jpg\" width=\"472\" height=\"635\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Click on \u201cPermissions\u201d and give Full Control rights to the Administrators group.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/capture3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Capture3\" style=\"border-top:0;border-right:0;background-image:none;border-bottom:0;padding-top:0;padding-left:0;border-left:0;display:inline;padding-right:0;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Capture3\" src=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/capture3_thumb.jpg\" width=\"544\" height=\"494\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After OKing every window you can open or refresh your services.mmc and you will be able to stop the Microsoft Antimalware Service.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/capture4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Capture4\" style=\"border-top:0;border-right:0;background-image:none;border-bottom:0;padding-top:0;padding-left:0;border-left:0;display:inline;padding-right:0;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Capture4\" src=\"http:\/\/teacheritblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/capture4_thumb.jpg\" width=\"597\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p><strong>As soon as you start the service again, the permissions will be set back to the original settings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Christian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you ever come into a situation where you need to stop the running System Center Endpoint Protection 2012 SP1,&#160; you will find out that there is no way to stop the service.
